Care Instructions

Three rules and these last.

  1. Wash cold, gentle cycle. Hot water breaks down the stretch. Cold, every time.
  2. Skip the dryer. Heat is the fastest way to kill the stretch in a band. Hang dry; they are thin and dry quickly.
  3. No fabric softener or dryer sheets. They coat the fibers and destroy recovery.

One exception: the Sunset Ombré sweater knit is softer and looser than the rest. Hand wash that one.

If it gets wet

Rinse in cool water before the band dries. Chlorine and salt are both hard on the stretch. None of these are waterproof and I don't make a swim band, so a soaked band is simply a wet band: rinse it, hang it, and let it dry fully before you wear it again.

Storing them

File them upright in a drawer or box rather than stacking flat. Easier to find, and nothing gets creased.

When to replace

When a band stops springing back and starts sliding down during the day, the elastic is spent. With good care, expect a year or more of regular wear.
